Michael A.  Kelly

Mr.  Kelly is a past President of The San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and a two time "Trial Lawyer of the Year" nominee of that organization.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers (for whom he sits as a member of their Board of Governors).  A summa cum laude graduate of St.  Mary's College of California, Mr.  Kelly obtained his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.  He is a chapter officer for the San Francisco Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.  In 2005 and 2006 he was cited by his peers as one of Northern California's top 100 "SuperLawyers." He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers.

For the last 30 years Mr.  Kelly has specialized in the resolution of complex plaintiff's personal injury claims, including a wide variety of catastrophic burn injury cases resulting from fires, explosions, and chemical exposures.

Recently, Mr.  Kelly obtained a confidential eight-figure settlement on behalf of a young woman who suffered extensive burn injuries after a vehicle versus bicycle collision.  In a second matter, he negotiated a settlement exceeding $7,000,000 on behalf of a utility worker burned over 60% of his body in a high-voltage electrical incident.  In a third example of his success, he obtained a multi-million dollar resolution of an explosion claim on behalf of an employee of a well service company who suffered blindness when an electrical detonator malfunctioned causing an explosion at a well site.  His experience also includes representing school children burned in shop class accidents as well as claims against manufacturers of flammable clothing.

He has successfully prosecuted cases throughout California in both State and Federal Court.  He has also litigated matters, pro hac vice in Oregon, Hawaii, Colorado and the Territory of Guam.  Mr.  Kelly has personally tried, arbitrated or mediated more than 100 cases in which the recovery on behalf of his client exceeded $1,000,000.

He holds an "AV" rating (highest rating) from Martindale-Hubbell and has been favorably profiled in legal periodicals, including the Los Angeles Daily Journal.  He is heavily involved in continuing legal education, and lectures annually for the California Continuing Education of the Bar, ABOTA, the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and The Rutter Group.  He has annually been selected for inclusion among "The Best Lawyers in America."

He holds an "AV" rating (highest rating) from Martindale-Hubbell and has been favorably profiled in legal periodicals, including the Los Angeles Daily Journal.  In 2001 he was selected by the California Judicial Council to sit on a task force empanelled to rewrite California's civil jury instructions in "plain English." He continues at present to be a member of the Judicial Council's Jury Instruction Advisory Committee by appointment of Chief Justice Ronald George.
