Emily graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York with a B.A. in American Studies in 2002. While at Cornell she swam on the varsity swim team and played on the club water polo team. Emily received her J.D. from U.C. Hastings in 2005. While in law school Emily received the American Jurisprudence award for Personal Injury Litigation, an award for Best Oral Argument in Moot Court, and Honorable Mention for a brief in Appellate Advocacy. She served as the Production Editor for Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. In the summer of 2003 Emily was a legal intern for International Strategic Group, a start-up hedge fund in New York. At International Strategic Group, she developed a corporate structure for the company and funds as well as a compliance strategy for SEC advertising guidelines. In the summer of 2004 Emily was a law clerk for the Walkup firm. During her third year of law school, Emily served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Richerd Kramer in the Complex Litigation Division of the San Francisco Superior Court. After graduating from law school, Emily spent a year working at the San Francisco Superior Court. She handled legal research for fifteen general civil law judges in many areas of the law, such as personal injury, landlord/tenant, class actions, and commercial litigation. She analyzed and drafted memoranda regarding pre-trial and post-trial motions, including demurrers, motions to compel, motions for summary judgment/adjudication, motions in limine, and motions for attorneys' fees. Emily joined the Walkup firm in 2006, and she practices all types of personal injury litigation. |
